Episode 101 the investors ask the potential restaurateurs to pitch their restaurant concept and serve an "iconic" item from their menu. After the investors have heard the pitches and tried the menu items, they choose 10 concepts to move on in the competition.
Episode 102 The top ten hopeful restaurateurs are tasked with their next test - to create a logo and hire an executive chef for their restaurant. Following these two tests, the contestants and their new chefs must then cook for a crowd of thousands at CityWalk at Universal Studios Hollywood. They must impress investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia with the decisions they make in order to stay in the competition.
Episode 103 The remaining nine restaurateurs are tasked with their next test - to work a crazed lunch shift at Chipotle and learn the brand. Investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia and the public will rate the restaurateurs performance. After experiencing how to run a successful restaurant, they must create their own slogan and signature dish for their restaurant and impress 100 people from "The Taste of LA." After this test the investors again evaluate their performance and decide who will continue on in the competition.
Episode 104 The remaining eight restaurateurs are tasked with their next test - working with a design team and construction crew to create a mini-version or "pod" of their restaurant while also putting together a complete meal. The restaurateurs' pods and meals will come to life at the annual "Dine LA" event in Los Angeles where they must impress designers and foodies who will vote for their favorites. Investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia will also evaluate their performance and decide who will continue on in the competition.
Episode 105 The seven remaining restaurateurs are tasked with their next test - to create their restaurant's uniform and partake in a photo shoot capturing their restaurant's image. The restaurateurs' photos, uniforms and a new dish will then be showcased to 100 diners. These diners as well as investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia will evaluate their performance and decide who will continue on in the competition.
Episode 106 The six remaining restaurateurs are tasked with their next test ??? to create their very own food truck , with the help of a graphic designer , and sell their food at busy Los Angeles hot spots. In addition to designing the food truck they must also have well priced "take-away" menu items that will yield the highest profit. Investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia will evaluate the contestants and determine who will continue on in the competition.
Episode 107 For their next test the five remaining restaurateurs must create a kid friendly dish and work with a product development company to create a toy that will go along with it. Later, the restaurateurs unveil their promotional toys and meals to a couple hundred parents and their kids - including their toughest critic yet Bobby Flay's daughter Sophie.
Episode 108 For their next test, the four remaining restaurateurs travel to Las Vegas to see if their concepts can succeed outside of sunny Los Angeles. They will have to serve three dishes off their current menu or a new dish, to a couple hundred people at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Later, the restaurateurs must hire two local employees to help execute their menu and run the restaurant during the first hour of service. Investors Bobby Flay, Curtis Stone, Steve Ells and Lorena Garcia will evaluate their performance and bring their concepts to life when their restaurant grand opening locations are revealed.
Episode 109 Using everything they've learned, the final three restaurateurs pull out all the stops when they create mini-restaurants for their soft opening. After working with architects, hiring a staff and creating their menus the three finalists must open their mini-restaurants to the investors and a crowd of diners. Investors Bobby Flay, Steve Ells, Lorena Garcia and Curtis Stone get in the kitchen beforehand to offer advice and cook with the remaining restaurateurs. In the end, one finalist is revealed to be the winner and their restaurant concept comes to life with the opening of a restaurant chain in three locations - Hollywood, Minneapolis and New York City.
